DAE Eurogamer Special

So last week we had the time of our lives! Not only did we get to enjoy the Eurogamer Expo (which included copious amounts of Halo 4) but we also got to attend a Microsoft event the night before (which included even more copious amounts of Halo 4!)

Massive thanks to Microsoft, Xbox, 343 and the lovely Acey Bongos for the invite. Now we get to share it all with you guys!

We go through everything we got to play with over the 3 days and we finally get to talk about the new map and vehicle, RAGNAROK and the MANTIS!

In between epic matches of awesomeness we managed to bag some Halo 4 swag and we're going to be sharing some of it with you guys!

The competition is at the end of the episode, but in case you need to hear it again here's what you have to do.

Complete the sentence:
"I want to play Halo 4 so badly I would..."

Enter via the comments below and the best replies win prizes! You can also enter via Twitter (@DustandEchoes) and via email (daepodcast@gmail.com).

But what prizes are on offer, you ask?

GRAND PRIZE!

A Halo 4 lanyard, Halo 4 headphones, a Halo 4 pen and an exclusive Halo 4 mug (that reacts to heat with an awesome picture!)

RUNNER-UP PRIZES!
3 people will also receive the Halo 4 headphones and a Halo 4 pen.

The competition is open to all and closes on October 14th. Good luck!

Thanks for listening guys, I hope we got across just how awesome these few days were.

Roll on November 6th, Halo 4 is gonna be amazing!

Tom

  1. Seems your charm has won me over, for I just did a little dance-- "It's up! It's up!" Sad to say, that next to the actual launch of Halo 4, this episode had become my most anticipated bit of Halo goodness. The two of you prattling on about Eurogamer is going to make my commute home oh so sweet.
Thanks for the hard work, you lucky bastards!

    1. You flatterer. Thanks for the kind words. It is a lot of work putting this content together but it's so worth it. We're still the luckiest bastards on the planet.

Hope you enjoy our bumper Eurogamer special!

    2. I'll have to confer with Tom on this one. I'll let you know here when I do...

    3. Had a chat with Tom about it. We decided that only one entry per participant can go forward into judging. If you enter and later have a better idea though feel free to submit just be aware that it's your LATEST entry that gets judged.

  4. There is one sad story. There was this big event called For Games 2012 in Prague and i was so hoping i would get my hands on Halo 4 before relase. Microsoft confirmed their presence, my hopes raised. Then the day came. HUGE truck covered by Halo 4 art arrived. Gues what was inside. Lots of Tv´s ? Check. Lots of xboxes ? CHceck? Lots of games ? CHceck. Fifa, NHL, tons of kinect games....but no Halo 4. How f*****g dissapointing. There was a man in Halo 4 Master Chief Costume, but he didnt even know how to hold an AR". A big letdown MS. Atleast we get the midnidgt launch.

For the podcast. It blowed my mind. So long, so entertaining, so informative. I am so jelaous, but you deserved it guys.

And here is my entrance for competition.

I want to play Halo 4 so badly I would drive for it to the middle of sahara desert using iPhone maps !

  5. Wow! You do want Halo 4 pretty badly, huh!

That For Games story sounds crushing! I think I would of have to skulk off somewhere private for a little cry if that happened to me.

SO glad you enjoyed the episode! Was a killer to put together something so long in such a short time but the response has been good so far!

    Thanks Hemlax!

  6. Gents. Awesome couple of days, awesome show, awesome to play with some awesome folk, gutted that we missed the community night. It was really great getting hands on with the game and made all the better that I was only in the loosing team once. We will have to rematch the free for all when we all have the game. Off to pre order for midnight release now. Thanks for having us on the show too. As for the comp... I want to play halo 4 so bad I would spend 12 hours on the megabus all over again.

  7. Another good show boys, appreciated your views on the wednesday, especially like the dominion details. Tom's point on the urgency of the flag cap is how I feel whenever I play CTF on any iteration of Halo, be interesting to see if this is further amped up in Halo 4.

Railgun FTW, I think I will be running for this and dropping this constantly, such an epic weapon.

Regarding that EGL guy's 'pro tip'...really the grenade at the feet tip, I am not denying his so called status but come on, any Halo player worth their salt knows this man.

Anyways brilliant meeting you and all the other community dudes, hopefully see you soon.

I love you Mushball and want to touch your face!

  8. your team didn't win the game we all played, we won, unlucky Woaf. you did get the sword after I was down to no shield after taking out 2 more people when you took it. If you want a rematch in reach let me know. :D

    1. I remember the game Woaf was talking about though I was on his team and we did win. I saw no sign of the sword though.

    2. Quim if you're trying to say that I cheesily took advantage of a situation where you had no shield and was facing away from me then anyone who has EVER played with me will know that you are 100% right.

      That is definitely my MO.

I know I won the game I was talking about. I also know I lost the one you and Tom were talking about.

My little meaningless revenge was had. No one can take it away from me!

      Rematch ANYTIME!

  9. That Gunslinger2 October 2012 16:14

Every time I get about half way through the podcast it keeps freezing and I cant listen past that point, but it was an enjoyable first half anyway. I'm jealous that you got to play early, but I'm also glad that my first experience of each mode will be the way 343 intended (especially fighting the Prometheans for the first time).

    Anyway... prepare yourselves...
I want to play Halo 4 so badly I would only use Windows Vista for the rest of my life.

Yeah, I went there. I'm sick-minded, I know. Sorry, I should have warned you before using the 'V' word.

    1. Sorry to hear you're having some trouble streaming the show! It maybe because the thing is over TWICE as long as we normally shoot for. I'm actually kinda glad I'll first get to meet the Prometheans as intended (knights and Crawlers at least).

Be glad this competition is only hypothetical!

Well....now that I think about it I might have to opt out and continue playing halo: reach ( :

  26. Listening to the latest show I think I nearly died of jelousy! I don't remember hearing anything about it but did either of you get to try out the railgun? If so what were your impressions?

Also after listening to you say how awesome it was for over 2 hours I think I will be going to Eurogamer expo next year. Hopefully 343 may be showing off a new map pack or possibly a new season of spartan ops if they decide to do more.

Loving the podcast as always guys, keep it up!

    1. I think we both had a play with the rail gun at some point. It's not as hard to get a kill with as I feared. Felt like it downed a Spartan in one hit regardless of shields though I'm not sure. A LOT easier to get a kill with than the old Spartan Laser and a ton of fun.

Me and Tom are going to try and get to Eurogamer next year regardless if Halo is making an appearance. I'm actually hoping that might be a good time to catch Bungies next game!

What ever games are on the show floor I'm addicted to the thing now so I think I know when I'm booking next years holiday.

Be sure and let us know if you are going!

  28. I want to play Halo 4 so badly, I would dress my girl up like Cortana, so when she'd boss me around, I could at least pretend I was the Master Chief. Then, on the days of the month when she was extra cranky, I'd claim she was going rampant.

  29. I want Halo 4 so much, I would pay a million dollars for it... I would raise the money by selling my house and living on the street. I would then sell mosaics fashioned out of my toenail clippings, as well as selling "organic cheese" that is actually my skin grated off with a cheese grater. I would gradually earn money this way until I have no more skin to grate or toenails to clip, and I would triumphantly buy my early copy of Halo 4!

Just wanna say thanks for awesome episode (the longer the better), although I was a bit green with envy when it finished. Keep up the good work!

  32. Hi guys!
I've only just realised my nightshift brain let me down and i didn't enter the comp on time! =( oh well i'll post my ideas anyways just for your amusment:

'I want to play halo 4 so badly that i would... Walk 3-4-3 miles and i would walk 3-4-3 more, just to be the man who walked across the country to play halo 4!'

'I want to play halo 4 so badly i would... Single handedly take on a brute chieftain, armed with only a traffic cone and a new mombasa road map!'

On a side note did you guys see the redbull stratos jump?
I think that Felix Baumgartner deserves to have Halo 4 now, seeing as he's the closest thing we've got to an ODST! Only difference was he didn't even need the drop pod! Performing what i'd describe as a HALO jump (High Altitude Low Opening) just adds to the cool. New form of spec op soldiers in the works maybe? Haha

Sorry for the LONNG post but as you can tell i've had a productive evening!

    Mitch (MCG MushBall)
