Picking up from where Ascendant Justice left off, ForwardUntoDawn.Com is a fantastic website dedicated to exploring the Halo universe in more detail than you'd ever dared to think! It's one of our favourite places on the web, so we're very proud to bring you this episode!
Amongst other things the topic of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is discussed, with episode 3 being released last Friday. Boy, do those Covies look angry!
Also touched on is ForwardUntoDawn.Com's latest project, a wonderful book called Community Evolved: A Look at the Last Decade of Halo Fandom. We're really excited about this and can't wait to support such a great project. The link is below if you feel the same!

See you next time!
Tom

Also featuring special guest, David's roommate doing some sort loud typing in the other room! Didn't realize how sensitive that mic is :)
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed you Tom, but I had a blast. We need to get you chaps on our little 'cast sometime.
I would have loved to chat with you David, hopefuly next time. Your piece on the Innies is like porn for me, I love that part of the universe! Anytime you want us to guest on your cast we`ll be there!
DeleteHey guys!
ReplyDeleteI'm a first time listener, brought here by Dave and the Forwarduntodawn.com website. I actually played with Woaf, Dave and maybe Tom (Can't remember) the other night, right after they had recorded this. It was great playing with you guys! Thanks for the friend request Woaf. (My gamertag was Sixftunder)
Anyway, Woaf made a comment that really got me thinking about why it is that I actually supported the Community Evolved kickstarter other than the fact that I would blindly throw my monies at anything FuD is doing;
There have been many community projects that are based on the fiction, gameplay and what not, but nothing that focuses on the communities themselves. I had never heard of HBO or any of these other sites until I joined FuD. I've played the Halo games since CE came out when I was 12 and love all of the back fiction, but I was never really aware of these communities until just recently. I just never had the urge to go searching the internet for more, and that sounds so weird to me now that I think about it.
Side tangent - I actually found FuD through Ascendant Justice after they had gone on to work with 343i. I found each site after first starting my internship when I was sitting in front of a computer for 9 hours a day and had little to do, which I had never experienced before. I find it funny and sad that I found these great websites primarily out of boredom, but I'm glad it happened!
So now I am really interested to see how these communities were formed and what they have done in the past decade. For a community as large and strong as the Halo community is, this project absolutely needs to happen, and I am glad I was able to help.
It's always refreshing to meet new people that embrace you as a fellow fan in a friendly way instead of how people might treat you in real life if you had told them you were obsessed with a fictional universe. And that is what makes this community as a whole spectacular.
Oh, and you have a new listener :)
Welcome! Thanks for taking the time to listen!
DeleteYou're totally right, especially the last paragraph. That's exactly how I feel about the community, so proud to be a part of something so great that makes me feel so welcome. I think the Community Evolved book is going to be a fascinating read, I can't wait!
I didn't play with you the other night, but hopefully I'll see you online for Halo 4!
I miss the FUD forums so much. :( But I have to stay dark. The stuff being discussed was a bit too spoilery for me. It'll be worth it in the end when halo 4 comes around. Less than 2 weeks now... less than... 2... weeks... dear god... I can't believe it's almost here.
ReplyDeleteThough I will certainly be buying one of the Community Evolved colour hardbacks. I think this is a wonderful project and I wish you all the best. If it's as high quality as your articles, then it should be incredible. It's going on my shelf... riiight there. :)
AXIOS!
I know man, I'm a forum dweller myself and it's been a tough time away from the ones I love! But it'll be worth it in the end every time you reach an amazing moment in Halo 4 that didn't get spoiled for you!
DeleteYou are most definitely worthy! :)
Hey chaps, great cast, great knowledge, great fun. Tom was a miss as always when he is absent but it's always nice to have a new point of view to listen to I shall have to go check out FUD now.
ReplyDeleteLater.
Shame I couldn't be there but you're right, always good to hear from someone else's viewpoint.
DeleteCheck out FUD right now! It really is a great site. Having read your Teabag or Die posts I think it'll be right up your street. Y'know, cos it's all clever and stuff innit.
